Vocabulary
Fraction- a number that
represents part of a whole or part of a set
Numerator- the number above the
bar in a fraction; the part of the fraction that tells how many of the equal
parts are being used
Denominator- the number below the
bar in a fraction; the part of the fraction that tells how many equal parts
there are altogether
Benchmark fractions-
common fractions that are used for estimation
Equivalent fractions-
fractions that have the same value
Part of a Whole- numerator is the
part of the whole being used; denominator is the total number of parts in the
whole
Part of a Set- numerator is all
the parts in the set being used; denominator is the total number of parts in
the set
