Vocabulary

·         Author’s Purpose- why the author wrote the text

·         Author’s Perspective- how the author feels about the topic; what the author thinks about the topic

·         Text Structure- how the text is organized

·         Compare/Contrast- telling how 2 or more things are alike or similar

·         Sequence- telling the order (or steps in how to do something)

·         Cause/Effect- Cause is why something happens; Effect is what happens

·         Description- describing something

·         Problem/Solution- Problem is what’s wrong; Solution is how the problem is solved

Social Studies

·         Cultural Groups and how they effect us

Writing

·         Creating a plan for an informative/explanatory essay

·         Using facts, definitions, text evidence to write informative/explanatory essays
